Wow. What a fantastic morning. The Waller Creek Action And Adventure Society can think of few things more enjoyable than eating brunch in a picturesque teeming creek bed with seventeen really entertaining people and working with the Red Swing Project to hang a swing over the creek. In the days leading up to Sunday’s event we were dubious about the conditions in the Creek given the massive amounts of rain but it was stunningly gorgeous and we couldn’t have been happier to find that it was still possible to eat ‘in’ the creek instead of being relegated to the path. That’s right, we brought a table, everyone showed up with a chair and then we ate brunch on the limestone creek bed. (more…)

The Waller Creek Report: September 10th at 9.38 am. Overcast, no pee smells, a guy named Boxer, abundant wildlife, lots of flotsam and remarkably pleasant under the 15th Street bridge.

Amazingly it didn’t smell like piss or guano (which apparently smell the same) today along the entirety of the path. The Red Swing Project and I traversed the full length of the path twice trying to decide on the best location for Sunday’s event, and actually found ourselves rather flummoxed choosing between two different locations. We were in fact really struck by the beauty of the Symphony space restaurant area and were saddened that we would probably be pushing way too many buttons trying to use it on this go-round. Along the way we did meet a rather incredible man named ‘Boxer’. (more…)
